Neben Weihnachten ist wahrscheinlich die Sportwoche im Februar die gefragteste Woche im Jahr. Frühbucher sind sicher im Vorteil - warten Sie deshalb nicht zu lange. Die Schneeverhältnisse sind immer noch top - es hat für jeden Geschmack etwas. Im Monat Februar können die Temperaturen nochmals so richtig in den Keller fallen. Hier ein kleiner Tip zur Bekleidung:
What to wear Zermatt February
As many warm layers as you can get on! February is baltic!!
I wear for example, two sets of thermal pants plus a non-insulated ski pant. Two thermal tops, a mid-layer gillet, a primaloft, and a non-insulated ski jacket (and sometimes more if it will for under). The outer layer is better not being insulated, then you can add and remove your layers underneath as necessary! A neck/face warmer is vital!

New : Great offer of husky sledge rides at the foot of the Matterhorn, at almost 3,000 metres above sea level. Enjoy a 1.5-hour adventure. It starts with gently stroking the husky; he likes this and will sniff you. These animals require time and patience as you get to know each other. Mai bedeuted Frühling in Zermatt, die Zeit wenn auf den Alpenwiesen der Frühling erwacht, blühen Krokus, Alpenveilchen, Frühlingsenzian & Co. Der Blumenfrühling beginnt in Zermatt (1'600 m) etwas später als in den Niederungen. Dafür umso intensiver. Mai ist der Auftakt und der Start für viele unserer wunderschönen Alpenblumen. Hier nur ein paar unserer typischen Bergblumen - manche gibt es nur bei uns in Zermatt. Ein absolutes "Must" für die Botaniker unter uns.

Möchten Sie einmal etwas ganz spezielles machen - wie wäre es dann mit einer Alpenüberquerung Ost-West - von St. Moritz nach Zermatt. Das Programm ist sehr anspruchsvoll ausgearbeitet bei einer Teilnehmerzahl von 4-6 Personen und die Dauer ist 10 Tage. Wir finden - eine tolle Sache. Aus der Agenda von Zermatt nicht wegzudenken ist das alljährliche Folklorefestival Mitte August. Für Zermatt hat dieses so ziemlich die gleiche Bedeutung wie für die Basler ihr "Morgestraich". Nicht nur alle Kulturvereine von Zermatt - von der Musikgesellschaft bis zur freiwilligen Feuerwehr machen mit sondern es kommen jedes Jahr auch viele auswärtige Gastvereine nach Zermatt. Im Anschluss wird der schöne Umzug in Begleitung verschiedener Vorträge "feucht fröhlich" ausgeklungen. Es wäre doch schön, wenn wir Sie dieses Jahr unter den Gästen finden würden.

Summer skiers have to be early risers, as the slopes are best enjoyed in the morning when the sun is not so strong. And the early start means that the afternoons are free, giving you a chance to pull on your hiking boots or relax on the terrace and top up your tan. Summer skiing on the glacier is a one-off experience that everyone should enjoy. The sports shops and ski schools in Zermatt are open in the summer to provide the necessary equipment and teaching so there’s really nothing to stop you from enjoying snow sports in the summertime. State-of-the-art lifts will take you from Zermatt up to a breath-taking altitude of 3'883 metres above sea level. The slopes offer guaranteed snow cover all year round for ski sports at the highest level – it is perfectly possible to find yourself sharing a gondola with famous winter sports stars who are also drawn to the perfectly groomed pistes, super-fast runs and sticky descents. Zermatt is the place to rub shoulders with the stars: over one hundred teams from 22 nations hone their skills on the Theodul Glacier in preparation for the winter season.

In our opinion October is a great time to do the 5 Lakes Walk. Due to the gorcious colours of the trees remembering us Indian Summer in Switzerland you will find breathtaking views and a wonderful fresh air. Just keep in mind to take a warm sweater with you. The path leads past the lakes of the Stellisee, Grindjisee, Grünsee, Moosjisee and Leisee. Each of these mountain lakes is very different in terms of shape, colour, character and size, and has its own special attraction. The Leisee is good for swimming: children love it. The Grünsee looks out over a rather more rugged landscape, where Swiss stone pines nevertheless manage to grow among the scree and sand. The shores of the Grindjisee are home to rare flowers. November
November ist eine sehr stille Zeit in Zermatt. Die meisten Hotels sind geschlossen und auch die Sunnegga Bahn wird geschlossen sein. Die Tage sind wesentlich kürzer geworden und auch die Temperaturen sinken nachts oft unter den Gefrierpunkt. Schneefall kann nicht ausgeschlossen werden. Meistens hat es nur wenige Touristen in Zermatt, was eigentlich das Wandern auch sehr interessant macht. Man ist wirklich für sich. Wenn die Tage nicht so viel kürzer werden würden wäre der November wahrscheinlich unsere liebste Jahreszeit. In Zermatt gedenken wir im November auch unserer Lieben und zünden ein Licht für unsere lieben Verstorbenen an.
December
December is an absolute Highlight in Zermatt. Usually every single bed is booked. Just keep this in mind - book early to be on the right sight. Many of us are dreaming of a White Christmas - well - in Zermatt this is very much possible. I think in the last 52 years there was only one Christmas without snow. The Zermatt Bergbahnen are preparing so well the pists that it is an absolute delight to do your carving or snowboarding on our pists. There is so much to do in Zermatt – Matterhorn at Christmas time. From the visit of Santa Claus for children to gourmet seven-course gala dinners, there's something for everyone. In short - Zermatt is the perfect place to celebrat a wonderful Christmas. Come and visit us.
